General Comments.
(
Brief data summary and
scan listing.)
One head recording continuum experiment using mode 256-8-2 which results in 32 MHz bandwidth per polarization. Participating stations are Ef, Jb, Mc, Nt, On, Sh, Ur, Tr, Wb, Hh. Effelsberg is the reference antenna. Calibrator sources are J0825+0309 and J0836+0104. The target source is J0836+0054, phase-referenced to J0836+0104. Full imaging results are provided for the calibrators. For the target source only a CLEAN map is available (fringe-fitting results of the calibrator were passed onto the target, no self-calibration was made).
Some data were lost in some channels because of missing Tsys information; this might be fixed when improved calibration information is available. The RCP receiver was broken in Shanghai, BBC7 was out of order in Torun (R4), and there were no fringes in R3-4 at Ur. These limit the ERI (number of visibilities/expected number of visibilites) to 0.82 (Tr=0.875, Sh=0.5, Ur=0.75).
IMPORTANT NOTE: This project lost a significant amount of data due to
blanking in the ANTAB file. Amplitude calibration should be repeated with the
new ANTAB file on VLBEER, and not the CL table provided by the pipeline.
Plots of the autocorrelations.
Comments.
On: some RFI in L1
Hh: RFI in L1
Plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase against time.
Comments.
Plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase against frequency
channel.
Comments.
Tr: R4 is dead (BBC7 was known to be bad prior to the observations)
Ur: L2 has low amplitude
The uncalibrated amplitude and phase of the crosshand
correlations against frequency channel.
Comments.
No data
TSYS against time.
Comments.
Telescope sensitivities from the a priori TSYS and Gain
curves (the square of this number gives the antenna noise (SEFD) in Jy - the smaller the better).
Comments.
Mc, Nt and On are 30-40% less sensitive than expected, see EVN Status tables
Jb: used Mk2 telescope
On: L1/R1 are even less sensitive (~70% in SEFD)
Tr: R1 is less sensitive (~40% in SEFD)
Hh: LCP channels seem to be less sensitive (~30% in SEFD)
Fringe-fit phase solutions.
Comments.
Phase stability looks good at all stations; higher phase rates for Ur and Sh
Fringe-fit delay solutions.
Comments.
Ur: no fringes in R3/R4
Fringe-fit rate solutions.

Telescope bandpasses.
Comments.
Calibrated amplitude and phase against time
(a priori amplitude calibration and fringe-fit solutions applied).
Comments.
Calibrated amplitude and phase against frequency channel.
Comments.
Note: calibrator is not too bright so care must be taken in fringe-fitting
Ur: L2 low amplitude is not corrected by Tsys
Phase corrections applied to a priori calibrated and fringe-fitted data by self-calibration.
Comments.
Amplitude corrections applied to a priori calibrated and fringe-fitted data by self-calibration.
Also available as a text file.
Comments.
Corrections are generally small. These tend to be higher at the outrigger antennas but this may be partly due to the imperfect source model.
Ur: L2 has a very large correction (a factor of 4 in Tsys)
Telescope sensitivities (the total AMP gain applied during
both a priori and self calibration; the square of this number gives the antenna
noise (SEFD) in Jy).
Comments.
Sensitivities are close to the nominal values.
Ur: L2 is very insensitive (see notes above)
