and
scan listing
)
L band (18cm) VLBI experiment, observed on 06 June 2008. The data rate was 1Gbps (8 X 16 MHz subbands, dual polarization, two-bit sampling). The target sources 'J021348' and 'J092159' were calibrated using the phase-reference sources 'J0209+1352' and 'J0920+4441'. 'J0204+1514', 'J0237+2848' and 'J0927+3902' were also observed as calibrators. 'J0237+2848' served as fringe finder. The solint was 1.6 minutes. Ef served as reference antenna. The plots show baselines to either Ef or Jb.
11 stations participated in the experiment: Cm, Jb1, Ef, Wb, On85, Mc, Nt, Tr, Ur, Sh, and Hh. At Cm, the signal is limited to the upper half of subband 2 (IF3) and the lower half of subband 3 (IF4) because of the bandwidth limitations of the microwave link. In addition, Cm reported disk failures at 08:48 - 09:20 UT and 14:47 - 15:10 UT and seems to have recorded the data too fast. The telescope drive failed due to a modem failure from ~12:00 - 14:16 UT. 1Gbps recording was not possible afterwards. At Jb, the Lovell Telescope was used for these observations. Wb observed in phased-array mode and reported severe RFI at 13:00 UT for about 30 minutes. Subband 7 (IF 8) seems to be missing in the Wb data. At Mc, the station computer failed at 13:45 - 14:03 UT, scans #164-168 are lost. Data from Nt are missing for the time range 7:59 - 9:26 UT.
The EVN reliability indicator (ERI) for this experiment was
ERI = 0.84 . ERI* = 0.84 .
(Cm=0.32, Jb=1, Ef=1, Wb=0.88, On=1, Mc=0.98 , Nt=0.96, Tr=1, Ur=1, Sh=1, Hh=1)
Plots of the autocorrelations
Comments.
As to be expected at 18cm, low-to-mid-level RFI at almost all stations, in particular in Mc/IF2+8 and Tr/IF1+7; Mc/IF1 (subband 0) and Nt/IF4L (subband 3) missing (see letter to P.I.); 482 pages
plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase
against time
Comments.
Cm: signal constrained to upper half of IF3 and lower half of IF4 because of the bandwidth limitations of the microwave link, patchy data, probably because data were recorded too fast (see letter to P.I.); 80 pages

TSYS against time
Comments.
Jb: T_sys varies significantly in IF5+6 at 03:30 - 05:00 UT and at 09:30 - 15:30 UT; Wb: IF2+3 noisier than the other IFs; On: spikes of high T_sys in IF3+4 at 11:00 - 15:30 UT; Mc: high T_sys in IF1+2; Tr : IF7 noisier than the other IFs; 18 pages
Telescope sensitivities
from the a priori TSYS and Gain
curves (the square of this number gives the antenna noise (SEFD) in Jy - the
smaller the better).
Comments.

Fringe-fit phase solutions
(including Parallactic
Angle correction).
Comments.
reference antenna: Ef, drift in phases reflects the parallactic angle correction; Wb, On, Mc, Tr, Ur: fringe fit at 08:30 UT may be off; Sh/IF8L: no good solutions; 16 pages
Fringe-fit delay solutions
Comments.
reference antenna: Ef; delays of the order of (a few tens of) nanoseconds, very few outliers; 16 pages
Fringe-fit rate solutions
Comments.
reference antenna: Ef; rates of the order of a few mHz, very few outliers; 16 pages
Telescope bandpasses
Comments.
reference antenna: Ef; Jb/IF2R, Mc/IF2+8, Nt/IF1R, Cm/IF3: phases deviate significantly from zero; 3 pages
Calibrated amplitude and phase against time
(a
priori amplitude calibration and fringe-fit solutions applied).
Comments.
Cm: patchy data, probably because data were recorded too fast (see letter to P.I.) Jb: slope in amplitude in IFs 5+6 in scan #146; 76 pages
Calibrated amplitude and phase against frequency
channel
Comments.
nothing unexpected detected; 662 pages
