Brief data summary
and
scan listing
)
K band (22 GHz) network monitoring experiment (NME) observed on 4 March 2009. The data rate was 1024 Mbps (16 x 16 MHz subbands, LCP only, two-bit sampling). The goal of this experiment was to test a wide-bandwidth mode (256 MHz) that may be needed in an upcoming user experiment. The observations consist of long scans on the following calibrator sources: '4C39.25', 'J1642+68', '3C273B', and '2353+816'. The maser source 'W3OH' was also observed to provide additional real-time diagnostics to the stations.
8 stations participated in the experiment: Ef, Jb, On, Mc, Nt, Sh, Mh and Ys. Jb used the MkII telescope. Nt had severe Mk5 problems and didn't send a disk pack. Mh reported recording problems, possibly due to slow disks, and the Mh data didn't yield fringes.
The EVN reliability indicator (ERI) for this experiment was
ERI = 0.54 . ERI* = 0.54 .
(EF=1, JB=1, ON=1, MC=1, NT=0, MH=0, YS=1, SH=1)
Plots of the autocorrelations
Comments.
Jb: spike in IF 11, IFs 12-16 flagged during postproduction because of zero fraction of high bits; maser line of W3OH seen in IF 9 of Ef, On, Mc and Ys, source position in the schedules for Jb and Sh was wrong; 8 pages
plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase
against time
Comments.
Ys: amplitude variations in all IFs like in N09K1, most likely caused by a broken RG-58 cable; Jb: bad phases in IF 11, IFs 12-16 mostly flagged; 28 pages
Plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase
against frequency channel
Comments.
Jb: spike in amplitude and noisy phase in IF11; IFs 12-16 mostly flagged; rest of bandpasses and phases look good, even uncalibrated; 8 pages
The uncalibrated amplitude and phase of the crosshand
correlations against frequency channel
(not available)
Comments.
TSYS against time
Comments.
dependence of T_sys on the elevation of the source clearly visible; Jb: no measured T_sys values, T_sys = 1; On, Mc: due to a software bug and last-minute changes to the schedule, number of T_sys measurements smaller than usual; Mc: IFs 3+4, 7+8, 11+12 missing! T_sys = -2.0 in corresponding columns of the antab file (probably overflow automatically replaced by -2), no T_sys values for IFs 15 and 16 before ~21:24 UT; 11 pages
Telescope sensitivities
from the a priori TSYS and Gain
curves (the square of this number gives the antenna noise (SEFD) in Jy - the
smaller the better).
Comments.
Mc: no gain values for IFs 15 and 16 before ~21:15 UT; 9 pages
Fringe-fit phase solutions
(including Parallactic
Angle correction).
Comments.
refant = Ef; Jb: IFs 12-16 mostly flagged; 9 pages
Fringe-fit delay solutions
Comments.
refant = Ef; delays of the order of (tens of) nanoseconds, except for Jb/IFs 9, 11 and 12; all stations/IFs 9-11: outliers of the order of a few microseconds during scan on maser source; 9 pages
Fringe-fit rate solutions
Comments.
refant = Ef; rates of the order of mHz, a few outliers of up to ~100mHz in IF 9 during the scan of the maser source; 9 pages
Telescope bandpasses
Comments.
refant = Ef; Jb: IFs 11+12 bad phases and amplitudes; IFs 13-16 flagged; 1 page
Calibrated amplitude and phase against time
(a
priori amplitude calibration and fringe-fit solutions applied).
Comments.
refant = Ef; phases still show significant deviations from zero; Ys: amplitude variations, most likely due to a broken RG-58 cable; Jb: IF 11 has bad phases, IFs 12 - 16 mostly flagged; Mc: IFs 3+4, 7+8, 11+12 missing (no T_sys values); 22 pages
Calibrated amplitude and phase against frequency
channel
Comments.
Jb: IFs 11-16 bad or flagged; Mc: IFs 3+4, 7+8, 11+12 missing (no T_sys values); 8 pages
