General Comments.
(
Brief data summary and
scan listing.)
This is an EVN-only experiment at 18cm at 256Mb/s (dual polarisation, two bit sampling, 4 IFs per polarisation). Participating stations were Jb (Lovell), Wb (tied-array - 13 ants!), Eb, On, Mc, Tr, Sh, Ur, Cm, Nt - all stations produced fringes. No signal in Ur (IFs 2 and 3, LCP - PI letter incorrect!), Cm (IFs 3 and 4, both pols due to microwave link bandwidth restrictions) and Nt (IFs 2 and 4, LCP). UVFLG file was not available at time of pipelining, SCHED flags used instead. Out of date Tcal information used for Tr and Ur (Nov 02). The reference antenna was Eb and the plotting reference Jb.
The EVN reliability indicator was ERI=0.83 (Jb=0.99, Wb=0.98 (hour angle limits), Eb=0.93, On=1.00, Mc=0.97, Tr=0.99, Sh=1.00, Ur=0.75, Cm=0.99, Nt=0.58) in this experiment. ERI gives you an estimate of the ratio of observed/good visibilities to the expected number visibilities. ERI* is the same but excludes data lost due to e.g. bad weather (0.84).
Plots of the autocorrelations.
Comments.
None.
Plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase against time.
Comments.
Nt: IFs 2 and 4 (RCP) shows intermittent data, but signal present.
Sh: Ends early as source has set.
Ur: Ends early as source has set. A smattering of data remains in IFs 2 and 3.
Plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase against frequency
channel.
Comments.
Ur: Dead IFs obvious.
Mc: IF2 intermittent at beginning of expt (LCP only).
Cm: Dead IFs (3 and 4) obvious.
Nt: RCP data intermittent in IFs 2 and 4 (playback - reverse passes missing).
The uncalibrated amplitude and phase of the crosshand
correlations against frequency channel.
Comments.
n/a
TSYS against time.
Comments.
Cm: none available - nominal sensitivity assumed.
Telescope sensitivities from the a priori TSYS and Gain
curves (the square of this number gives the antenna noise (SEFD) in Jy - the smaller the better).
Comments.
Most telescopes have expected sensitivity as tabulated in EVN status table
Sh and Ur under-performing somewhat. Recall that Cm is forced to have nominal sensitivity and Tr/Ur Tcals are 6 months out of date.
Fringe-fit phase solutions.
Comments.
Nice phase connection generally seen.
On: Very high phase rate.
Fringe-fit delay solutions.
Comments.
None.
Fringe-fit rate solutions.

On: Surprisingly low rate.
Telescope bandpasses.

Calibrated amplitude and phase against time

Amplitude corrections applied to a priori calibrated and fringe-fitted data by self-calibration.

Comments.
Corrections are generally sensible (~1.0). Ignore NGC4051!

both a priori and self calibration; the square of this number gives the antenna
noise (SEFD) in Jy).
