General Comments.
(
Brief data summary and
scan listing.)
Two heads recording, 512 Mbit/s data rate, 64 MHz bandwidth per polarization. Effelsberg is the reference antenna. The main target, FIRST_051 was phase- referenced to J1159+2914. There were two amplitude check sources observed: J1147+2635 and J1228+3128. 3C273 and OQ208 were fringe finders, J0745+1011 and J0750+1231 was included for Arecibo - these four sources were not included in the imaging cycle of the pipeline.
There were no fringes to Jb (wrong LO frequency), Mc, Tr and Ur (reason unknown). Due to MERLIN link restriction Cm data were expected in L3-4/R3-4, and so only headstack 1 was correlated. Sh occasionally had problems with the RCP receiver. Westerbork used a new backend - able to record 16 MHz/BBC. Arecibo recorded only on headstack one.
Plots of the autocorrelations.
Comments.
Tr: some RFI in L4/R4
Jb: strong RFI in L5/R5 (sometimes also in L7/R7 and L1/R1)
Hh: strong RFI in L4/R4
Plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase against time.
Comments.
On: missing from several passes
Plots of the uncalibrated amplitude and phase against frequency
channel.
Comments.
Wb: strong (wave-like) phase variation accross the band
Cm: amplitude cutoff at the lower half of L3/R3 (microwave link limitation)
Sh: RCP receiver seems to be OK
Hh: no sign of the previously reported BBC4 low amplitude problem
The uncalibrated amplitude and phase of the crosshand
correlations against frequency channel.
Comments.
Wb: unstable, strongly variable crosshand amplitudes across the band - maybe due to an incorrect weighting function applied during the combination of the linearly polarized signals
TSYS against time.
Comments.
Ur: very large variations in Tsys from one IF to another
Telescope sensitivities from the a priori TSYS and Gain
curves (the square of this number gives the antenna noise (SEFD) in Jy - the smaller the better).
Comments.
Tr: seems to be more sensitive than expected (SEFD=230 Jy, see the EVN Status Tables)
Ur: most of LCP channels are much less sensitive than expected; RCP channels seem to be unrealistically sensitive (SEFD=240 Jy)
Sh: RCP channels are less sensitive than expected (SEFD=1130 Jy)
Fringe-fit phase solutions.
Comments.
In spite of the no fringes reported earlier, there seem to be very rare fringe detections for Ur and Tr. However these became flagged in selfcal later.

Calibrated amplitude and phase against time
(a priori amplitude calibration and fringe-fit solutions applied).
Comments.
Calibrated amplitude and phase against frequency channel.
Comments.
Sometimes there are large (>10%) amplitude variations between IFs.
Phase corrections applied to a priori calibrated and fringe-fitted data by self-calibration.
Comments.
Amplitude corrections applied to a priori calibrated and fringe-fitted data by self-calibration.

Comments.
Telescope sensitivities (the total AMP gain applied during
both a priori and self calibration; the square of this number gives the antenna
noise (SEFD) in Jy).
